Zarah "Joy" Jo Pirtle

Zarah “Joy” Jo Pirtle, age 61 of Hurricane Mills, TN, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Joy was born on August 9, 1961 in Tiptonville, TN to Mary Cromwell and James Page. Joy was raised Baptist and had a strong relationship with God. She was a helper. She made everyone she met feel special. She would spread joy no matter the circumstances. Joy loved nature. She enjoyed long drives, looking at trees every autumn and listening to the birds sing.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Shannon Kohlmeyer (Chris) of Hurricane Mills, TN; son, Jesse Johnson (Lacey) of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Andrew Kohlmeyer, Zarah Price, Elijah Pirtle and Maddie Pirtle; grand cats, Morty and Francis; mother, Mary Cromwell (Gerald); step children, Kenneth D. Pirtle, Katie M. Pirtle and Kristan Blake Pirtle; siblings, Robert Page (Karen), Laura Adams (Randy); step siblings, Michael Cromwell (Tina), Mark Cromwell, Stacey Bullock (Jimmy) and Christoper White (Joy); bonus mother, Helen Page. Joy is also survived by her dog, Squishie that she treated like a child.

Along with her father, Joy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Pirtle; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Addie Jo Page; maternal grandparents, Hayden and Zarah Smith.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
