Prentice Simmons

Mr. Prentice Simmons, age 81, of New Johnsonville, TN, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019, at NHC Healthcare in Dickson, TN. Mr. Simmons was a native of Swan Creek in Hickman County, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Sue Staggs Simmons, parents: Andrew Jackson "Rob" Simmons and Bertha Alexander Simmons, brothers: Henry Simmons, Ray Simmons, Robert Simmons, and Howard Simmons, sisters: Floy S. Bates, Wilma S. Love, and Clara S. Moody. Survivors include 2 daughters: Robin Renee Turner, New Johnsonville, TN and Tammy Lee Tidwell (Tony), Dickson, TN, 2 sisters: Elizabeth Wilson, Centerville,TN and Julia Reeves, Knoxville, TN, 4 grandchildren: Dustin Turner (Laura), Brady Turner, Emilee Harrison, and Andrew Harrison, 3 great grandchildren: Riley Connor Turner, Alaina Elizabeth Turner, and Hollis Pruett Turner, 11 nieces and nephews and a beloved dog, Zoey. Mr. Simmons loved rabbit hunting, fishing, hunting, and beekeeping. He was an avid football fan. He especially loved spending precious time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 22, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, October 23, 2019, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Bro. Bill McDonald will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Methodist Cemetery in New Johnsonville, TN.
