Myrtle Curl Spann

Mrs. Myrtle Curl Spann, age 98, of Waverly, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Woodcrest at Blakeford Skilled Nursing Facility in Nashville, TN.  Mrs. Spann was born on July 10, 1921, in Perry County, Tennessee, to William Lee and Mary Lane Curl, one of 8 children.  Her family moved to Humphreys County when she was 7 years old, and she resided there the rest of her life.  She was employed at Waverly Garment Factory prior to her marriage to Reuben Spann in August, 1945.  After the birth of her daughters, she was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, an excellent cook and seamstress.  She was an active member of the Waverly Church of Christ and was always eager to help anyone who needed her help. 

She is survived by 2 daughters, Carolyn Patterson (Kerry), Brentwood, TN, and Mary Ruth Temple, Brentwood, TN; 1 brother, Ray Curl, Gallatin, TN; 2 sisters, May Glover and Sue Curl, both of Murfreesboro, TN; 4 grandchildren, Brent Patterson (Elizabeth), Chad Patterson (Jennie), Lauren Steidl (Joel), and Adam Temple (Brooke); 9 great grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Breanna, Kylie, and Brooke Patterson; Luke, Noah, and Joseph Steidl; and Ivy Temple.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Spann; her son-in-law, Steve Temple; her parents, William Lee and Mary Lane Curl; three sisters, Grace Curl, Mattie Spann, and Mary Lee Langford; and one brother, William Curl.

Visitation for Mrs. Spann will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN, from 12:00 noon until the time of service beginning at 2:00 P.M.  Interment will be at Richlawn Cemetery in Waverly, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to the Waverly Church of Christ, 438 West Main Street, Waverly, TN 37185
