In Loving Memory of Myrna Sue Stewart
October 16, 1941 – June 7, 2024
Myrna Sue Stewart, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother “Granny”, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Goose Creek, South Carolina surrounded by her loving family on June 7, 2024, at the age of 82.
Myrna was born on October 16, 1941, in McEwen, Tennessee, to Richard Haskell Hutcheson and Enza Pearl Hutcheson. Myrna and her husband William “Bill” served as missionaries to Cochabamba, Bolivia for 20 years. They also planted First Assembly of God in Waverly, Tennessee where they pastored from 1978-1985.
Myrna is survived by her 6 children, William D. Stewart (Sonita), Richard C. Stewart (Hope), Debra L. Mixson (Jeffrey), Brenda J. Hoag (David), Robert A. Stewart, and Jonathan R. Stewart (Stephanie); and her 22 cherished grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Alton Hutcheson, Charles E. Hutcheson, Donny D. Hutcheson, and her sister Wanda G. Jones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William McLachlin Stewart and her parents Richard Haskell Hutcheson, Enza Pearl Hutcheson, and brother Terry Lynn Hutcheson. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Shane Stewart, and great granddaughters, Talia Aveline Stewart and Presley Faith Wells.
Myrna was known for her strong faith in the Lord and love for her family. She loved doing puzzles, playing Yahtzee, her competitiveness, baking, and serving her family in any way possible. She loved talking about her childhood on the farm and going to the hollow. She had many stories to tell about her and Bill’s mission work to Bolivia. Many souls were saved because of their willingness to follow God’s calling on their lives.
The funeral is set for Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2:00pm. Visitation for friends and family will be on Saturday June 15, 2024, from 10:00am-2:00pm at Waverly Luff-Bowen Funeral Home 2400 Highway 13 North, Waverly, Tennessee.
Myrna's legacy of love, faith, generosity, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
