Joyce Cross Tate

Mrs. Joyce Cross Tate, 82, of Waverly, TN passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at Magnolia Place in Waverly. Mrs. Tate was born November 4, 1936 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Carl Russel Smith and Mable Verneva Pyatt Smith. She was a waitress at Carol's Restaurant. Joyce sang at numerous weddings, funerals, and church services and she loved her St. Louis Cardinals!

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 5-8pm at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11am at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in McEwen, TN. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Scott Cross (Melissa), Bellevue, TN

Sandy Cross (Brigette) McEwen, TN

Kevin Cross (Angel), McEwen, TN

Mike Cross (Donna), Tennessee City, TN

1 Step Daughter: Evelyn Heath (Rodger), Waverly, TN

Karen Conley (Dennis), Missouri 

4 Brothers:

Russel DeMond( Helen), Illinois

Thomas DeMond (Sue), Illinois

Rick DeMond (Dell), Illinois

Charles DeMond (Mary), Lebanon, TN

1 Sister- in-law: Judy Hicks, Illinois

She also leaves 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mable and Oral DeMond, and Carl Russel Smith; her first husband, Alan D. Cross, sister, Ada Jarret, her second husband, John T. Tate, and step-son, Rick Tate.
