Ms. Edna Louise Hardin Fortner Work, age 88 of Waverly, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Humphreys County Nursing Home.
Edna was born April 19, 1932 in Waverly. Her parents were Floyd "Honey Babe" Hardin and Lela Louise Warren Hardin. Ms. Edna retired from Walmart where she worked for many years, as a cashier. She was a member of Mariah Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The employees of Humphreys County Nursing Home nicknamed her "Smiley" because she always had a beautiful smile on her face. She was also known to be quite witty and could always make you laugh. She loved to cook, read, work jigsaw and word search puzzles and was especially talented at hand embroidery. She was always packed and ready to go, she was up for any trip! Especially when it involved a NASCAR race. Ms. Edna loved to go on the bus trips to Tunica and would sit and play the penny and nickel slots for hours! She adored her cat, Baby but most of all, Ms. Edna adored her family. If you were ever in her presence, you knew how special her children and grandchildren were to her, she loved them dearly!
