Phillip Wayne ‘Butch’ Wills passed away at the age of 65 on November 4, 2020 in Crystal River, FL where he resided for the past 3 years. Butch was born on April 28, 1955 in Waverly, TN to Jerry Wills and Norma Jean Plunkett. Butch was married to his wife, of 17 years, Dianne (Barber) Wills.
Butch honorably served the community in law enforcement in Humphreys County, Hickman County and Houston County and at Turney Center. He retired as the Chief of Police in New Johnsonville in 2006. Butch loved to tell stories of the men and women he served with, many of which are good friends to this day.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne, his mother, Norma Jean Plunkett; father, Jerry (Patsy) Wills; sister Renea Wills (Joe Weatherly); nieces Christina (Elliott) Shackelford and Katie Weatherly; step-children Scott (Maria) Standfest, Christopher (Jihan) Standfest, Kelly (Chris) Christensen and Sara Medaris. One of the greatest joys of his life was being known as ‘Papa Phil’ to Emily, Caleb, Noah and Sophie Christensen, Miranda and Brandon Standfest, Mya and Caitlyn Medaris and Seth Standfest.
A graveside memorial service will be in the Meadowlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 11:00 A.M following the funeral procession from Luff Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
