Betty Jean York Davis

Mrs. Betty Jean York Davis, age 78, of Waverly, TN, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, in Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Davis was born May 18, 1941, in Waverly, TN, to Wilbur Jerry and Geneva Pearl Collier York. She was married to Max Carroll Davis. She was a member of Wildwood Valley church of Christ in Hurricane Mills, TN and the Humphreys County Historical Society. She was a Waverly Central High School Class of 1959 Alumni and their Reunion Committee Chairperson. Mrs. Davis was a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. "Miss Betty" lovingly taught Sunday School and she was a babysitter for 13 children over a span of 30 years. She was the Treasurer for the Doughton-Long-Pickard Cemetery Fund. She enjoyed historical Waverly and Humphreys County, and was very knowledgeable and helpful to all who called upon her with questions of the past or present. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, July 7, 2019, from 2-8 p.m., and Monday, July 8, 2019, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Bro. Rick Rolin, Bro. Jeremy McFarlin, and Bro. Joe Rhodes will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Doughton-Long-Pickard Cemetery, on Hwy. 231, in McEwen, TN.
