Thomas "Rick" Richard Tate

   Rev. Thomas Richard "Rick" Tate, age 59, of Waverly, TN, departed this life to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2016, in Waverly.  Rick was born August 25, 1957, in Waverly, TN, to John T. and the late Sammye Lane (Jones) Tate. He was married to the light of his life Cynthia Lee "Cindy"( Ingram) Tate of Waverly. Their greatest legacy is their two children Samara (Lauren) Tate and Richard Zachary (Zach) Tate.  Rick was a farmer and a member of Restoration Church in Dickson.      Rick was a 1975 graduate of Waverly Central High School.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministries in 1979 from Emmanuel College, Franklin Springs, GA. He was a former Pastor of Willow Oaks PH Church in Memphis, TN and the Christian Heritage Church, Restoration Church, and Full Gospel Church in Danville, VA.     Rick’s roots run deep through his family farm where he grew up loving the land and it’s Creator. He loved God, his family and he loved people.  He returned to Tennessee in 1997 to begin farming with his father.  He and his son Zach have been farming full time since then.  His daughter Lauren Tate also resides near the farm.  Rick continued to be active in churches throughout the area, preaching his last message on November 20th in Dickson.     Rick touched so many lives during his time on this earth.  Many people have sent messages of love and appreciation for his years of ministry and service to Jesus.  People from across the nation and overseas have sent their regards and appreciation for his life.  He was a man of conviction and had a servant’s heart.  He will be deeply missed not only by his family but by a diverse Christian Community to whom he ministered.Visitation with the family will be Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Visitation on Friday, December 2, 2016, will be at the Compassion Church, 1452 Clydeton Road, Waverly, TN, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m.  Rev. David Ingram, Chaplain Roger Heath, and Mr. John Gaskill will be officiating the service at the church.
