Robert "Dr. Bob" Sidney King

Robert "Dr. Bob" Sidney King, age 91, of Franklin, TN, and formerly of Waverly, TN, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Lodge at Natchez Trace in Nashville, TN. Dr. King was born February 9, 1924, in Jackson, TN, to James Henry and Annie Hill Currey King. He was married to Anna Kathryn "Kay" King. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served in World War II, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He moved to Waverly in 1952 and was a well-known and loved Optometrist for many years. He was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church, Waverly Lions Club, Waverly Lodge #304 F&AM, Al Menah Shriner, Scottish Rite, and the Tennessee Optometric Assoc. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 4-8 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Visitation on Friday, April 10, 2015, will be from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m., at the Waverly United Methodist Church, 115 West Main Street, Waverly, TN. Rev. Frank Smith and Pastor Thad Collier will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Richlawn Cemetery with Military Honors at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be Currey King, Canon King, Sidney Cassidy, Mike Cassidy, Bob Haynes, Sean Haynes, Jody Griggs, and Hal Griggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Zitek, David Shepherd, Jack King, Tommy King, Belinda May, Jimmy Hamm, Ed Tate, and Brenda Hatley.
