Redick Wesley Fortner

Mr. Redick Wesley Fortner, age 94, of McEwen, TN, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Waverly HealthCare Center in Waverly, TN. Mr. Fortner was born December 10, 1919, in Waverly, TN, to William Vester and Nola Elizabeth Williams Fortner. He was married to Mae Evelyn Grice Fortner. Mr. Fortner was a member of Mariah Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Waverly, TN, and a self-employed Plumber and Electrician. He was also a member of Hickman-Patterson Post #34 of the American Legion, Waverly Lodge #304 F & AM and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army 43rd Infantry Division and he saw action from Guadal Canal through the Phillipines. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 4-7 p.m., and Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 12 noon until funeral service time at 1 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Rev. Ray Mayo and Rev. Nathaniel Mathews will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery in Waverly, TN. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Fortner, Joe David Fortner, Alan Jones, Ben Hunt, Nathan Fortner, and Jeremy Black.
