Robert L. Hemby

Mr. Robert L. Hemby, age 77, of Waverly, TN, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, in the Humphreys County Nursing Home in Waverly. Mr. Hemby was born July 12, 1936, in Waverly, TN, to William Oce and Mattie Carnell Hemby. He was married to Virginia Faye Ethridge Hemby. He was a member of Ellis Grove Presbyterian Church in Waverly. He was a veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard, retiring as Staff Sergeant, after 23 years of dedicated service. He was also a retired Forklift Operator from Advanced Laundry in Waverly, TN. Mr. Hemby was a very devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 19, 2014, from 4-8 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Visitation on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, will be at the Ellis Grove Presbyterian Church, on Hemby Branch Road in Waverly, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 10 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Bill Barger. Interment will follow in the Hemby Cemetery, on Hemby Branch Road in Waverly, with full military honors. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Rye, Sam Reynolds, Chuck Nix, Robert Frady, Robbie Nix, and Bill Hemby. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Hemby, Jr., Terry Hemby, Butch Willis, Benny Collins, Gary Rickenbrode, and Joe Nash.
