William "Bill" Henry Jenkins

Mr. William "Bill" Henry Jenkins, age 69, of Nashville, TN, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014, at his home, after an extended illness. Mr. Jenkins was born June 11, 1944, in Lufkin, Texas, to F. J. "Slim" and Annie Jackson Jenkins. He was married to Mary Turner Jenkins. He was a member of Lake Providence Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. Bill attended Brandon Elementary and Dunbar High School. He earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University. After graduation, Bill began his career employed with General Electric (GE) as an Electrical Engineer. His career spans a course of 39 years as a national and international Electrical Engineer. He serviced projects in various countries: Saudi Arabia, China, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Korea were only a few. Bill excelled in his career; achieving multiple awards and recognitions for outstanding performance. October 2009, Bill officially retired, but he continued servicing GE as a consultant until December 2012. He was an avid golfer. He was a quiet, dependable, humble person who adored his family and friends. He was smart, hardworking, generous, and truly loved by those who knew him. William "Bill" will be greatly missed. A wake will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014, from 11 a.m. until funeral service time at 12 p.m., at the Lake Providence Baptist Church, 5891 Nolensville Pike, Nashville, TN 37211, telephone 615-833-5539. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Lake Providence Youth Ministry. Additional services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 11 a.m., at the Long Chapel CME Church in Lufkin, TX. Rev. Bettie Kennedy will be officiating the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lufkin, TX.
