Dona Lou McNeal Rice

Mrs. Dona Lou McNeal Rice, age 73, of Waverly, TN, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, surrounded by many family members and friends at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born December 5, 1939, in Pinsonfork, KY, to Frank and Mary Etta Kirk McNeal. She grew up in Columbus, OH and Cocoa, FL. On December 22, 1958 in Cocoa, FL, she married Air Force SSGT Richard A. Rice, a native of Portville, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Wilma, and a son, Samuel W. Rice. Survivors include her husband, Richard A. (Dick) Rice, Waverly, daughters, Judith Rice (Don) Tennison, Nashville, TN, Bonnie Rice Judd, Waverly, TN, Sandra J. Rice, McEwen, TN, son, David L. Rice (Courtney), Dickson, TN, brothers, William F. McNeal, Cocoa, FL, and Charles "Don" McNeal, Portageville, NY, sisters, Martha J. Isham of Kodak, TN, and Nellie M. Mauler, Sorrento, FL, grandchildren, Keith A. Rice, Oviedo, FL, Jarod W. Rice, Winter Springs, FL, Samantha and Alexandra Judd, Waverly, TN, Toby, Leah, Aaron, Levi, Sophie, Evangeline, James, and Havalah Rice, all of Dickson, TN. A caring and loving person, she welcomed any and all into her heart and home. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN, and on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m., at the Waverly United Methodist Church, 115 West Main St., Waverly, TN. Pastor Phil Ross, Rev. Cynthia Andrews-Looper, and Rev. Frank Smith will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Wyly Cemetery in Waverly, TN.
