Eldon Wheeler

Mr. Horace "Eldon" Wheeler, age 89, of Waverly, TN, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Waverly Health Care Center in Waverly. Mr. Wheeler was born June 30, 1924, in Waverly, TN, to Tom and Edie Johnson Wheeler. He was married to Velva Lorene Atchison Wheeler. He was a member of Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church in McEwen, TN. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for E. I. DuPont in New Johnsonville, TN. Mr. Wheeler was a former Gideon, former member of the Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church Board, Deacon, Superintendent, Secretary and Treasurer, founding member of the Mt. Zion Church Bowling League, DuPont JERA Club, Board member of Mt. Zion Cemetery, and former member of Humphreys County School Board. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 and Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 2 p.m., at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Rev. Jonathan Atchison and Rev. Barry Downs will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in McEwen, TN. Active pallbearers will be Barry Downs, Brad Downs, James Hatcher, Steven Poyner, David Poyner, and Gary Atchison. Honorary pallbearer will be David Wheeler. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund.
