William "Bill" Smith Thompson

Mr. William "Bill" Smith Thompson, age 86, of Waverly, TN, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly, TN. Mr. Thompson was born on April 29, 1926 in Bowling Green, KY, to Joseph E. and Willie McDonald Thompson. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church, former member of the American Legion in Nashville, TN, Waverly Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the Wood Badge Recipient. He was the retired owner of J & B Tire in Waverly, TN. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 26, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Visitation on Saturday, April 27, 2013, from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m., at the Waverly United Methodist Church, 115 West Main St., Waverly, TN. Pastor Phil Ross will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37210. Active pallbearers will be Robby Einerson, James Hatcher, Bill Clayton, Ray Boshart, Don Warren, and Mark Kassing.
