Richard Charles Bradley

Mr. Richard Charles "Dick" Bradley, age 83 of Waverly, TN, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mr. Bradley was born March 14, 1930 in Elgin, IL, to Chester Adelbert and Gladys Angeline Lenz Bradley. He married Leola "Dee" Nemec on December 29, 1951 in Santa Ana, CA. He was a member of Fox Valley Accountants Assoc., Saints Alive at the Waverly United Methodist Church, almost a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo, IL, Marengo City Clerk for 3 terms, retiring in 1969, Highland Hospital Board in Belvidere, IL, president for 2 terms of the Zion Lutheran School Board, retired Marengo Township Assessor for 2 terms. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He played taps for military funerals during WWII, while he was in grade school. He was a Sargeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bradley loved photography, golf, reading, water skiing, cross country skiing, traveling, and he loved his retirement home on the lake. He built his 16 foot ski boat in the family room of his home and it is still in use on Kentucky Lake. He remodeled an old home including an addition which the family lived in for 40 years. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from 9:00 A.M. until memorial service time at 11:00 A.M., at the Waverly United Methodist Church in Waverly, TN. Pastor Phil Ross will be officiating. Memorial service in Illinois will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M., at the Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo, IL. Interment of cremains will follow in Marengo City Cemetery in Marengo, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Waverly United Methodist Church, 115 West Main St., Waverly, TN 37185, or to Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo, IL.
