Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, October 14, 2011, at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly for Hester Mae Conner Fuqua of New Johnsonville. Visitation will be Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 4 P.M.-8 P.M. and again on Friday from 9 A.M. until funeral time at 11 A.M. Mrs. Fuqua, 87, died Oct. 11 at St. Thomas, Alive Hospice in Nashville. The Rev. David Sauer will officiate the service with burial at Bethpage Cemetery in McEwen,TN Mrs. Fuqua was born in Hickman,Kentucky, June 21, 1924. She spent her early years in Hickman and Humphreys Counties and lived in Michigan for over 40 years. She was a resident of Humphreys County for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker, a seamstress and a clerk for Perry Drug of Novi,Mich. She grew up and was baptized into the Methodist church. Mrs. Fuqua was the daughter of the late Algie Hodge and Mary Ann Harville Conner. She was married to the late Claude Everett Fuqua. Surviviors include one daughter, Rita (Wayne) Poyner of New Johnsonville,one son, Dale Fuqua of Longmont,Colo., and one son-in-law Jack(Mary) Mitchell of Livonia,Mich; two sisters, Evelyn Winstead of McEwen and Tempie Davis of Warren, Mich.; five Grandchildren, John (Pam) Mitchell of Westland Mich., Dawn (Dan)Nowicki of Livonia,Mich.,Jennifer Dyer of McEwen, James Jones of Pegram, and Tim Poyner of Richmond,VA.; eleven great-grandchildren, Samantha Mitchell, Zoe Mitchell, Stephanie Dickinson, Phillip Dickinson, Joshua Stein, Chloe Nowicki, Sam Nowicki, Alex Nolwicki, Carlie Dyer, McKaylee Dyer, and Jesse Jones. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Priscilla Fuqua Mitchell; three brothers, Dorris Camus(Jack),Walter Melvin and Roy Conner; and four sisters, Estelle Conner, Dessie Lenora Cochran, Ruth Maude Betty and Jennie Alice Redden.
