James Monroe Blazier

July 24, 1921 — October 8, 2011

Mr. James Monroe Blazier, age 90 died Saturday October 8, 2011 at his home in New Johnsonville,TN. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday October 11, 2011 from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again on Wednesday form 9 A.M. until funeral time at 10 A.M.. Funeral services will be held at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly with Mr. Craig Blazier, Rev. Josh Wallace, and Rev. Donna Paramore officiating. Entombment will be in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Waverly,TN. Mr. Blazier double retired from John Deere Chemical and Dravo Construction.Mr. Blazier was a soldier in the United States Army.He was inducted on February 24, 1941. He served until taken captive in April, 1941 by the Japanese. He was held in countries of the Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan. He was still a prisoner at the end of the war and was released June, 1946 with an honoable discharge. He was at Corregidor Island Bataan Death March and stood Honor Guard for General Macarthur as he left the island. Survivors include: Wife:Alice M.
