Carl Eugene Smith

Mr. Carl Eugene Smith, age 78, of McEwen, TN and formerly of Nashville, TN, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home. He was born on February 28, 1933 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a Master Mason with Phoenix Lodge #131 in Nashville, TN, a member of American Legion Post #5, and a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church. Mr. Smith served as a Captain and retired with the rank of Sgt. Major from the US P&FO after full-time service with the Tennessee Army National Guard for 43 years. Masonic rites will be at 7 PM Saturday, May 7, 2011. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-9 PM and Sunday, May 8, 2011, from 1 PM until funeral service time at 3 PM at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in McEwen, TN. Rev. Horace Bass will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethpage Cemetery in McEwen, TN with full military honors.
