Sybil Mae Holland

Sybil Mae Henry Holland passed away peacefully March 21, 2010 at Silverplume Assisted Living Center in White Bluff. A native of Humphreys County, she was born May, 6, 1918 to Bert Harrison Henry and M. Bessie Pickard Henry. She was married April 8, 1939 to James Harvel Holland, also of McEwen. Mrs. Holland spent her years primarily as a housewife devoted to her family, church and community. As a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, she taught adult Sunday School classes and served as pianist for many years. She served the city of McEwen as recorder fom 1972 until her retirement in 1980 and also was the Secretary of McEwen Cemetery Association from 1975-2004. Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother W.H. Henry and sister Dorothy Petty. She is survived by her sister Audrey Henry Sparks of Charlotte, TN. Her surviving children are Wand HollandPrince of Lenoir, NC; Jim Holland and wife Diane of Miami Lakes, FL; Steve Holland and wife Cathy of Nashville; and Joye Holland Street and husband Gary of Burns, TN. Grandchildren are Lisa Shanks of Greenville, SC; Gina Bryant of Granite Falls, NC; Trinity Street of Oroville, WA; Beth Street of Nashville; Stephanie Fuqua and Kyle Street of Burns; and 4 great grandchildren.
