Mr.Wiley Ray Williamson,age 86 died Monday March 1, 2010 in Tullahoma.Visitation for Mr.Williamson will be Thursday March 4 from 4:30 P.M. until 8 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M unil funeral time at 11 A.M.Funeral services will be held at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly with Bro.Joe Rhodes officiating.Burial will take place in the Ebenezer Cemetery in New Johnsonville. Wiley was born in Miston,TN in Dyer Co. He grew up in Lake and Gibson Co. on a farm his parents rented. He graduated from Kenton High School and then joined the Navy in 1942 becoming a Seabee in the U.S. Marines Corp during WWII.He served his time in the military in the Pacific Theater participating in the battles of Guadalcanal,Tarawa,Saipan,and Tinian.After the war,Wiley returned to his hometown of Kenton,TN,married Lou Ella Spencer in 1945,and bought a farm in Currie,TN,where they had 2 baby girls,Shirley and Betty.During this time,he accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized.Later,he gave up farming and went to work for TVA becoming a unit operator and moving to New Johnsonville in 1953.He became Post Master for the New Johnsonville Post Office in 1968 and retired on January 3, 1984. Wiley enjoyed hunting,trot-line fishing,boating,photography,tinkering in his "Garage shop" and many other things.He had a strong work ethic,cared deeply for his family enjoying the many reunions and gatherings,and was known for his honesty and integrity.He will be greatly missed Son of Daisy and Verner Williamson Brother of V.L.(Frances) and Phebus Williamson Husband of Lou Ella Spencer Williamson Father of Shirley Bard(Ralph)and Betty Burns(Mike) Grandfather of Rae Anne Seay and Amy Rowe Great Grandfather of Sarah and Michael Seay,and Katie,Beth, and John Rowe.
