Eddie Lucas

Mr. Edward "Eddie" Waddell Lucas, age 67, of New Johnsonville, TN, died Thursday, November 26, 2009. Preceded in death by parents; Anderson Waddell Lucas, Jr. and Maureen Wolverton. Survived by his loving wife of 33 years; Rachel Parker Lucas, New Johnsonville, TN, siblings; James Wyly Lucas, Waverly, TN, Lynda Yanik, Wheeling, WV, Dallas Ward (Anna Lee), Trinadad & Tobago, Jesse Ward (Ann), Riverton, KS, and step-brother; Alan Cagle (Shelia), New Johnsonville, TN. Eddie was born on October 20, 1942 in East Prairie, Missouri. He graduated from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA and attended UT Knoxville. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was named Outstanding Member of his platoon March 13, 1963. Eddie began his career in construction at the early age of 14 and started Lucas Construction at age 21. Eddie Lucas was a man who believed in hard work and modeled ethics. He was a visionary and had a tireless resolve for accomplishing those goals he thought to be in the best interest of his community. His love of New Johnsonville made him largely responsible for its residential growth and he proudly participated in its economic development. Eddie will be missed by all, but mostly his wife, family, friends, and his community. Visitation with the family will be from 3-8 p.m. today and Monday, November 30, 2009, from 12 p.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m. at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Interment will follow in the New Johnsonville Methodist Cemetery.
